Pre Scrooge (1969-1987)
Before Don Rosa became internationally know for his story Son of the Sun, which was published in July 1987, Don Rosa had created a lot of artwork for university newspapers and fanzines. In 1979, he also created the Pertwillaby Papers for the local newspaper, Louisville Times, the start of his comic career.

The Captain Kentucky
When Don Rosa became locally knows as comic collector and cartoonist, a local newspaper offered him a cartoon strip to create for a weekly comic strip. He then created Captain Kentucky for The Louisville Times
